My name is Maeve, I'm an 18 year old book lover who can't wait to share her love of reading with anyone who is willing to listen.
I am currently studying English Language & Linguistics and French literature at university after finishing my A levels in English Literature, French and Chemistry. I have loved to read my whole life, from listening to my sister read my 'Charlie and Lola', to going through a pretty intense 'Harry Potter' phase (I'm a Ravenclaw by the way), to devouring Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'.
I enjoy immersing myself in different cultures by reading books from all over the globe, whether it be translations into English, or the original language of the piece. Because of this, reading serves as so much more than just a way to pass the time whilst sunbathing, It has allowed me to better understand the world around me and the people living in it.
When it comes to reviewing a book, I love to put myself in the shoes of different types of people. For example, I may ask myself, "how might a white English man's view of this book differ from that of a female Latin American?" I could be writing a feminist interpretation one day, and maybe a study on metaphors the next.
I can't lie, I am a sucker for romance, the more realistic it is the better. However, I don't mind dipping my toes into the world of fantasy (so long as it isn't too out there). While I know my favourite genres best, I hope to be able to provide reading recommendations for people of all tastes and preferences.
I can't wait for you to dive in!
